Washington State is known as an area of high in rainfall and for being dominated by temperate rainforest. What people don't realize about the area is that the climate is not overwhelmed by the highs and lows that are experienced by areas without access to the moderating effects of the Pacific Ocean. This means mild winters and warm summers that never get extremely hot. Depsite the relative warmth, Washington state does have has access to the Cascades Mountain Range with its high altitude downhill skiing in the winter. Mount Baker is a well-known resort area that draws a lot of skiers and snowboarders every winter.

Seattle is famous for introducing a new genre of music 'grunge' in the 90's and it is partly in tribute to that phenomenon that the Experience Music Project was constructed. This hands-on museum offers something for everybody in the family, including ten minute jam sessions and other interactive exhibits all housed in stunning architecture. Today, Seattle is still known for its great live music scene, Pioneer Square, and Pike Place Market. It is also known for its upscale hotels if you're willing to splurge a bit on a downtown five star hotel.
