devon holiday and accomodation guide

Devon and Cornwall are two counties that lie in the southwest of the U.K, a very popular tourist area for both international and national tourists. Without doubt Cornwall has the best beaches the U.K has to offer. Here lies the famous Lands' End, as the name suggests it's the most westerly point in the country. An area of natural beauty and stunning cliff tops. Newquay, situated on the northern coast of the county is 'the place' for surfing, and a popular choice with families, due to its glorious sandy bay and location near top attractions.

Devon &Cornwall Holidays Guide

Cornwall boasts an endless list of things to do, such as, Dairyland Farm, Newquay Zoo and Cornish Birds of Prey. A must see is the huge Eden Project, known as the world's biggest green house, located in a disused clay mine and home to plants from all over the world. For the more adventurous, visit the Adrenalin Quarry. Jump off a 50 metre high cliff and down the U.K's longest zip wire, or sit 50ft above a lake in a giant swing.

A short drive over the county border into Devon, lays peaceful fishing villages and a wealth of more attractions. There really is something for all ages. Try your hand at traditional glass making, swing through the high wire forest at Go Ape! Or marvel at the historical castles, gardens and mazes. Dartmouth Castle, sitting on the river Dart, is absolutely breath-taking and a great day out for young and old. There is more than enough to keep the children entertained, with seven different theme parks, such as The Milky Way Adventure Park in North Devon, and the Crealy Great Adventure Park in South Devon. When eating out it has to be a traditional country pub, offering traditional roast dinners, local ale and a chance to meet local people. Visit a Tea Room to try delicious Devon cream tea and scones.

You will find the usual luxury hotels and spas in all the main tourist areas, however, to truly get a taste of English life stay at a guesthouse, bed and breakfast, caravan and camping park, or one of the many picturesque English cottages available for rent all over the gorgeous South West.
