Beautiful Holidays Specialists

Mauritius is a beautiful island, located far east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. Mauritius is a popular holiday destination, and no wonder, because it packs a lot into a relatively small area. The beautiful, sun kissed beaches of the coast are the main attraction, but there’s a lot in the interior – orchids, waterfalls, gorges, game reserves and several fascinating historical attractions. The food is excellent too, and you should definitely try some of the local rum. Mauritius is easily accessible and perfect for anyone who would like a relaxing beach holiday, including couples, families and senior travellers.

What to Do in Mauritius Africa

Mauritius offers a full menu of aquatic activities; the usual sailing, swimming, deep sea fishing and diving, and also water skiing, and parasailing. If this isn’t enough, there’s also a giant aquapark.

You can explore the interior of the island on quad bike, on Jeep, on horseback or even on foot. There are several places to see and learn about Mauritius’ flora and fauna, including the La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes, which is full of crocodiles, and also a range of other animals; one creature you definitely won’t see is the Dodo, which was hunted to extinction by early Dutch settlers.

Mauritius Holidays Guide

Grand Bay is the centre for nightlife on the island, and also has great shopping potential. However, the Bazard of Port-Louis, the Mauritian capital, is where you’ll pick up bargains. You should also check out the various museums, and the Caudan Waterfront, which has a cinema and arcades. Port Louis also has a horseracing track.

The Ile aux Cerfs is another highlight, and has a particularly good beach – regular boats shuttle to and from mainland Mauritius. If you fancy something less busy, try one of the smaller coastal town, like Flic en Flac or Souilliac. The sugar mill is a definite must, and explains some of the history of Mauritius.
