If its sightseeing you love, Hope Town is home to a famous candy-striped lighthouse. This lighthouse has been photographed and painted by many, andhas an interesting history: when it was under construction in the mid-1800s the island's residents were unhappy, as they had been making a good living salvaging ships that wrecked off the coral reefs. North of Elbow Cay you'll find Man-O-War, The Abacos' boat-building center. North of Marsh Harbour is Treasure Cay, a small but relatively well-developed spot with golf, hotels, and a marina surroundingsome of the softest, most attractive beachesin the Caribbean. Just to the south is Little Harbour, a protected bay that is home to a small artist's colony. There are four national parks on the Abacos Islands: Pelican Cays Land & Sea Park, Abaco Wild Horse Preserve, Man-O-War Cay, and Great Guana Cay.Abaco is also known for the underwater vistas of intact elk-horn and stag-horn coral, and for the Abaco Barb, its critically endangered breed of wild horse.
