Beautiful Holidays Specialists
Mozambique has a wonderful, unspoilt coastline, and offers some of the best cuisine in Sub-Saharan Africa. The country is politically stable with beautiful scenery and very affordable to travel around with a decent amount of accommodation along the way. Most travellers come for exploring the towns along the 100-km stretch of coastline of the Indian Ocean.
What to Do in Mozambique Africa
In Mozambique, visitors gravitate towards the Indian Ocean with excellent scuba diving and pretty coastal villages to explore, most notably Island of Mozambique, the former capital, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Maputo, the capital of Mozambique has only a minimal appeal for tourists with the main attraction being its lively market and a handful of small museums. There are a few Game Reserves to visit, the pick being Gorongosa, although these do not compare with neighbouring Malawi, Tanzania or South Africa.
Mozambique Holidays Guide
Off the north coast, Island of Mozambique town is unlike any other in Africa with a surreal ambience and Portuguese influenced architecture. Further north towards the border with Tanzania, there’s good scuba diving in the Quirimbas Islands, noted for its sheer drop-offs whilst inland has access to the serene Lake Malawi on its north-western border. The southern part of the country has several pretty towns to explore including Villanculos and Tofo Beach, both popular with holiday-makers and with excellent snorkelling, fishing and scuba diving. There’s access from here to the fabulous Bazaruto Achipelago of small islands, one of the most beautiful collection of remote islands and protected by both a Marine Reserve and National Park.
